D-I-Y Recipes For Wet Wipes

A note about DIY recipes: Every person is different and can be allergic to different things. Tailor these ingredients to suit you and/or your family. That’s the beauty of the dry wipe!

We must stress that we do not advocate pre-moistening wipes as this can encourage microbial activity. Refer to the Using Our Dry Wipes page for more information. The following recipes are provided as a courtesy to customers who purchase the wipes with this intent in mind.

Fruit and Veggie Wipe — the DIY wet wipe alternative for your food!

Have you ever been out and about with the apple you grabbed from your fridge, and wondered if that bottled water was going to clean the wax and residue from the grocery store off well enough to really enjoy it?  Try our fruit and veggie wipes.  They’re perfect for picnics and camping and… LUNCH 🙂

1.5 C distilled water
1 Tbsp glycerin
5 drops grapefruit seed extract
5 drops lemon peel extract
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp citric acid  (if you’ve got it!  And if you don’t, no worries)

Healthy Dog Ears, Gentle Wipe for your Best Friend

15 drops of lavender essential oil
15 drops of geranaium essential oil
15 drops frankincense essential oil**
15 drops basil seed extract
4 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil
1.5 C of warm distilled water

This recipe makes enough for an entire tub of Your Health Your Hands bamboo wipes.  These are great for maintaining your dog’s ear health and helping to prevent infections!    Whisk the mixture well and pour over your dry bamboo wipes (hold them stacked on their side, like a book’s binding), then turn and do every side, top and bottom.  Let the wipes absorb the mixture for 20 minutes or so, and then you’re free to use these to softly and gently clean your dog’s ears.

DYI Cleaning Spray

Follow the same recipe for the dusting spray, only omit the olive oil. You can add baking soda or a few drops of a cleansing essential oil blend, as well.

* If you are planning to wet an entire tub, use hot water and raw, virgin coconut oil. This provides a great lubricant for your hands. You can also use jojoba, almond, or olive oil.

** We recommend only using pure, high quality essential oils. Make sure you know the quality of your ingredients is suitable for your and/or your little one’s skin.

*** Or make your own with orange, clove bud, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary leaf/flower essential oils.
